Known for Really Neat Stuff, Kroner’s Hardware is a fixture in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin and attracts locals and visitors alike. We are the oldest business in La Crosse still in its original location. Our extensive retail inventory of necessary and hard-to-find items serves tri-state denizens, both business and residential.
A few years after the American Civil War, Adam Kroner built and opened Kroner’s Hardware. For over 155 years, persevering through the Great Depression and two pandemics, Kroner’s remains on Pearl Street, owned and operated by generations of the Kroner family.
A true “old-fashioned” hardware store, our towering walls are lined with shelves of boxes filled with various hardware items, accessed through ceiling-mounted rolling ladders. Our kitchen selection is second to none in the area. The Kroner family’s residential and commercial-door hardware expertise and sourcing has been instrumental in too many large and small-scale construction projects to name.
This icon, with its authentic smell and creaky floors, could all be yours! Our 4th generation owner is ready to retire, and we are looking for the next family of store owners. The building has been sold, and the new building owner would love to see the store stay here. Serious inquiries are welcome. Make an appointment, or come in to speak to Bill. Time is ticking!
